I desire to clump Senua in a cover and protect her from the world .

Sequels are generally a smasher or miss , but Senua ’s Saga does not pretermit . There ’s nothing better than when you continue a tale , and it ’s rich , expectant , and so emotional , but all the more beautiful for it . Senua ’s Saga does incisively that , add some depth to its gameplay and some stunning visuals to create a top - grade experience .

Story

While I ’m not happy that Senua has to shinny yet again , I am felicitous that we get to see more of her story . And the second part ofHellblade IIis candidly just as good as the first .

Senua ’s Sacrifice was praise for its amazing representation of mental health , and that praise has to be extended to Senua ’s Saga . The mental wellness journey is never a consecutive route up or down . I like to conceive of it more as a rollercoaster , and just like the first , Senua pilot all of these struggles throughout the second chapter of her escapade .

She was doing better at the end of the first biz , but , understandably , her advancement takes a few steps back after traumatic experiences like the Northerners ' returning , finishing what they pop out , and capturing her people as slaves . It ’s no surprise the shadow comes back . And it ’s no surprise that Senua doubts and fears .

But she still pushes forward . Sometimes , all you could do is push forrader despite everything . Even though she is a warrior from years past , this makes Senua relatable to everyone . She ’s fighting her own incubus and draw back up every undivided time .

She sees the light in the future , in others , even in her sorry times . But it does n’t hail easy . She hear it from her past , and it ’s a choice she has to make every time , even when the voice in her read/write head doubt it . That ’s why I love Senua ’s story . The fact that she chose to leave the Slavemaster awake because she go steady the rot taking over his trunk . That is something she is very conversant with , and she finger for a valet de chambre who has the same struggle , even though she hates him for what he has done .

genial wellness issuance can often palpate so difficult because those they impact don’tshowthat they ’re treat with them . Senua ’s story and struggles polish a light on just how tough it can be to cope with genial wellness number , and the way it ’s presented in the plot is earnest and sincere .

Gameplay

While the biz is intense due to the topic it dole out with , it ’s not that difficult to get through . It ’s a gross balance of challenges combine with an awe-inspiring story . I loved the rune puzzles in the first game , and in this one , they go a dance step further . There is a fun unexampled car-mechanic that I do n’t want to spoil that will flip the hand on you .

On top of the Lorestone collectible that were available in the first secret plan , there are now hide out face that you may also discover throughout the chapters . These face hide a tree that will also divulge more traditional knowledge about the globe and its inhabitants . I love that when you go to the chapters tab in the Menu , you may see exactly how many Lorestones and hidden faces there are in each chapter . And you ’ll bang precisely how many you miss . As I type this , I am waving my fist angrily at that one hidden face in chapter three that has still evaded me . I will find oneself it .

Then there ’s the scrap . Senua ’s Saga ramps up not only the amount of fight encounters you ’ll have , but the intensity of them , too . There are a telephone number of different enemy type , each with their own patterns you ’ll demand to ascertain to evade , block , and duck . They ’ll take a good few strike to miss unless you could ace the counter timing perfectly and occasionally trip an fantastically fulfil one - strike kill .

That being sound out , there are only about four or five different foeman types that you ’ll do across , and so after a while the combat can get a little too repetitive . Developer Ninja Theory has put some time into make scrap sense more weighty , though . There ’s a good heft to Senua ’s blade and the way it hack and stroke through her enemy . Rapidly mashing buttons on your controller to make Senua get back up and quash a fatal reverse , too , is immersive and far more acute than just pressing a push button once and learn our heroine spring back to her feet .

Visual Design

The first game ’s visuals were groundbreaking , but the second one carry everything one step further . I wish I could have look at Senua and her expressions more throughout the game honestly . When biz go super realistic , human faces can nudge their way into the uncanny valley , but I never get that feeling when watching Senua and the rest of the stamp in the game .

The cutscenes look astonishing , but it ’s the fact that so many time , I could barely tell the conflict between them and the literal gameplay that astonish me . There were so many instances where I would wait for the scene to cease , only to realize I was supposed to be playing . The fact that it ’s so undetectable really is a testament to the levels of production Ninja Theory has put into Seanua ’s Saga , and it made me enjoy every moment of the adventure that little bit more .

What ’s particularly refreshing over its predecessor is the variation in the surroundings Senua finds herself traversing . Each chapter work with it young terrain and environment to explore . From blow - tiptoe raft , eery caves , thick forests , and lavish cliffside hayfield . Every single scenery modification made me gasp in awe at how beautiful it looked . Even when it was pouring rain and could n’t be more squashy , the public still look oddly picturesque .

The only issue I had with the visuals ( and it really is more of an bother ) is that so many of the rocks see like face . I take over that was designed , or I just really want to see them all so I commence seeing things . But the amount of time I spent focused and looking around was definitely more than I would have wanted .

Score:4.5/5

Sound Design

I ca n’t stop jabber enough about the sound design in Hellblade II . From the background ( and fare ) music , to the environmental sound to the amazing articulation acting , I ca n’t make up one’s mind what ’s more perfect . Every Voice Actor really collide with their mark , but I have to give all the prop to Senua and the Furies . The voices of doubt , support , dubiousness , vexation , negativity , and pessimism were unrelenting throughout the adventure , and thanks to the 3D biaural strait , you really do get a sentiency of the torture that Senua is dealing with on her adventure .

Did I often call on around thinking someone was in the room with me when the Furies start verbalize ? Way too many time . But that ’s the gunpoint . They vocalise like they were in my head , or in the room with me , adding to the experience .

The environmental sounds did the same . A fire crackling , a river cyclosis — all the phone came together with an amazing soundtrack to make the earthly concern of Senua both genuine and witching . The campaign that has been put into crafting this game in every scene really has me so impressed .

Verdict - I don’t want Senua to suffer, but I want more!

I love it when a story has an ending , even if it ’s a fiddling equivocal . The first game had it , and I could have survive without the second one . I ’m well-chosen I do n’t have to , though ! Senua ’s Saga cements itself among some of my favorite very easy , with a poignant but heavy story , beautiful visuals , and a lot of hope . Is it uncollectible that I ’m now hoping for more ?
