Ice Breaker , an Exotic Sniper Rifle from Destiny 1 , will be make a return to Destiny 2 . This has come as a surprise to many devotee , because devs have been say for years that Icebreaker , among other Exotics from Destiny 1 , would never make it into the second game .
In ablog postcelebrating the secret plan ’s 10 year anniversary , Bungie has tease that the sports fan - preferent artillery will be form a comeback .
" A sure Exotic Sniper Rifle , one considered a myth by many at this point , is resurfacing in the upcoming Dungeon . We ’ll portion out more information at a later date , but we desire this help … break the ice , " they tell .
Icebreaker was excellently OP because of its ability to regenerate ammunition , similarly to Whisper of the Worm , which saw some pregnant nerfs to its ammo positive feedback in Destiny 2 because of balancing issues . The game has changed significantly over the last 10 years , though , so it should be interesting to see how Icebreaker fits into the current commonwealth of Destiny and alongside Whisper .
Gjallarhornwas another Exotic that made it into Destiny 2 as an old weapon from the first biz , and it came with a few changes , so it ’s possible that Icebreaker will also look different from Destiny 1 when it ’s eventually added to Destiny 2 .

Since you need to complete an intricate amount of steps to get Gjallarhorn , it ’s probable that you ’ll need to do something similar with Icebreaker . Bungie did cite that it will be coming back with a Dungeon , but it ’s unclear if it ’s just a waiver with the new Dungeon or if we will require to complete the Dungeon to get it .
