Quite the Myst - ery , these puzzles .
Myst is a well - know series of teaser game from the nineties and early 2000s . The first secret plan , called just Myst , was released in 1993 , and it was one of the most challenging games most citizenry had ever play . There are a totality of seven dissimilar games in the serial , and while some hold up the challenge of the original , there are a twosome that were comparatively easy .
7. Myst III: Exile
The easy of all the Myst games was Myst III : Exile . While the last segment of this game was pretty challenging , the eternal rest of it just was n’t like the Mysts that had come before it . This was most potential due to the franchise being taken over by a dissimilar developing studio ; while Cyan created Mysts I and II , Presto Studios , known best for the Journeyman Project game , created Myst III .
Unlike some of the other Myst titles , Exile has you walk across matter that you would n’t have been able to in previous games , like precarious beam , and it takes a turn of getting used to . Some of the puzzler are a little less nonrational , and the fib is n’t as fulfilling as the old ace . Overall , Myst III is the weakest of the serial story wise , but it ’s worth a playthrough if you love the lore .
6. Myst IV: Revelation
Myst IV put the Ages back into the hands of the Cyan ( though mostly Ubisoft ) . This dedicate rooter the very first Myst that changed from click - through movement to 3D. There were a lot of grow pains ; it makes finding things you may interact with a small more challenging , but the teaser themselves are fair square .
Revelation is all about you trying find and reconnect with Atrus ' Word from the first game to see if they have reformed after being locked away in their humankind for more than a decade . Myst IV is lore - heavy , and its puzzles go around around using both the new camera feature and young Yeesha ’s necklace to read memories of your milieu . Most of the puzzle are n’t too intriguing ; they mostly rely on memorizing numbers , color , and pic around you to get through both the son ' prison worlds .
5. Myst V: End of Ages
I have never personally played End of Ages , but after watch a couple of very good playthroughs and record a lot of Reddit threads on how unmanageable the game was in comparability to the others , I have a fairly good idea of where this one should fall on the list : right about the middle . Myst V has this unspeakable tablet that forces you to describe symbols on it to figure out teaser , and the interface alone seems like it would be a challenge to wrangle .
Other than difficulties in actually essay to get the tablet to do what you need ( which is the hardest part of the secret plan from what I have find ) , the puzzles are challenging but not too hard . While some Ages are more ambitious than the others , it ’s just sort of middling in trouble when compare to its serial companions .
4. Myst and Myst Remake
The original Myst is one of those genius games that takes a round-eyed solution and obfuscates it ; the game comprise the quintessential " difficult to figure out , but wanton to do " puzzles that put Myst and Cyan on the function in the 1990s . The game is n’t as unmanageable as many seem to call up it is , but calculate out all the solution will take some meter .
Overall , the puzzle are focused around take undecomposed bank note , listening cautiously for well-grounded pool cue , reading every bit of lore , press every button , and keeping your eyes opened for anything that looks out of blank space . It mean it ’s sluttish to miss something , but most of the puzzle have fairly obvious solution if you are really focussed . The remake of Myst , made by Cyan in 2020 , is functionally the same secret plan , so I lumped these two together , unlike …
3. Riven 2024
Riven 2024 was surprisingly unlike from the original Riven : The Sequel to Myst which was secrete back in 1997 . I played the original most of the way through , but got caught on one of the late levels and ended up giving up on it completely ( do n’t blame me ; I was still a baby in 1997 ) . The remake added a few new challenge , change a few puzzle around , and reconfigured the sound puzzle toward the end of the plot ( if you know , you know ) .
The teaser were nonrational but difficult . You want to take onus of notes , or screenshots in my casing , and keep track of even the smallest detail to get through . To add a layer of challenge to Riven , Cyan also made some of the puzzler randomized , so it ’s a fiddling bit different each clip you play .
2. Uru: Ages Beyond Myst
Uru was the first Myst game where you created a character and view everything from a third - person position . The controller were rough , and the puzzles so obtuse as to be virtually out of the question without a guide . I find Uru to be challenge , but not in a playfulness manner . It also had an MMORPG aspect to it , but I did n’t have good enough cyberspace at the time to attempt to play it .
The puzzles are all very dissimilar from one another , forcing you to learn entirely fresh ways of thinking for each humankind rather than ramp up on the puzzles from the Ages before . It ’s one of my least favourite Mysts by far , but it certainly is one of the most difficult . If you could get past the janky early-2000s controls , and you opine Myst was too easy , you ’ll have a large time with Uru .
1. Riven: The Sequel to Myst
The original Riven : The Sequel to Myst was released in 1997 . This plot is the most hard in my legal opinion ; I used to play these games with my papa when I was a child , and even he could n’t complete the wakeless puzzle at the end ( and he’sreallyadept at these types of teaser plot ) . They for certain are n’t insolvable , but by all odds the hardest mystifier by far of all the Mysts .
Riven : The subsequence to Myst was created by using actual photographs , so the graphics actually declare up really well . It ’s still a beautiful secret plan with a stunning soundtrack . If you need something that will gainsay you , stun you with beautiful vistas , and have you chew over over it for hour and hours , Riven is the one to pick up .
