9. Waljas, Dominant of Leviathan
The thing about Waljas is that there is n’t much of him to justifiably set him higher . Say it with me : Benedikta was a waste . While I know that not everyone gets buyback or a happy end , Benedikta truly did n’t deserve much of what happened to her . Her purpose was “ survival , ” and form for Barnabas was the only path that she figure go to it . Benedikta did n’t have to be an ally , but she did n’t merit her lot . Kupka would have ruled over his dominion for ten if he was n’t blindsided by erotic love , but I suppose that ’s what forlornness does to a person .

6. Dion, Dominant of Bahamut
I loved Dion before the events of Crystalline Dominion , back when he was storey - head enough to make proficient decisions . see Dion ’s story unfold after that was … irritating . He now charges into thing without the intent to return . That ’s not bravery ; that ’s rashness . It ’s admirable of him to want to repent for all he ’s done , but he constantly forgets that there are mass waitress for him to refund .
If he unfeignedly want to aby , he would have been in Northreach with his people .
You really ca n’t find fault him , though — there were a pile of forces at work in that pot room . Dion , I presuppose , was also not build to be a character that listens to other citizenry . After all , he never had to . As prince , he was always the one being listened to . It ’s an extremely frustrating part of his character .
5. Jill, Dominant of Shiva
I love Jill . She ’s sweet , strong , and willing to step up when the situation calls for it . However , when compare to the other dominant allele on this list , she ’s not who I ’d immediately take as my favorite .
After her epic consequence against the leader of the Ironbloods , the plot kind of snubbed her to rivet more on Clive and Joshua . Even the Leviathan DLC could n’t give her the spotlight she desperately take , despite its level being held in the northward , where Jill was both .
Still , my large bitch about her lies with the events just before the fight with Ultima , when she is give the same treatment as Torgal ( if you acknowledge , then you know ) . Jill deserved more screen time than she was given , and it ’s something that upsets me to this 24-hour interval .

4. Barnabas, Dominant of Odin
I initially considered order Barnabas below Jill , but the game did make an effort to complete his character ( de)growth . Barnabas was a king who fought for what he consider was good for the existence . He did n’t concede to the ideals of his enemies until the very end , which I find admirable .
There is no redemption at the oddment of Barnabas ’ narration , only the sight of someone suffering the consequences of his action . And for all his faults , Barnabas did show “ will , ” as Clive betoken out , which made the untouchable king feel entirely human .

3. Joshua, Dominant of Phoenix
Joshua ’s endearing , so moot this entry my most colored one . He made a lot of terrible decision I could n’t penetrate the abstract thought behind ( like not state Clive he was alive for five days ) , but he ’s a Rosfield . And I obtain all Rosfields cute , charming , and loveable .
Joshua is someone who does n’t just love his category but know how to carry out his tariff . He ’s also never had that vexatious stubbornness most games give their teenage character , give thanks the Phoenix . Joshua is unregenerate ( unregenerate enough not to show his aspect for years ) , but he ’s never blinded by the fact that he can do thing alone . He profess when it ’s absolutely necessary and listen when people speak .
2. Cid, Dominant of Ramuh
Cid Telamon was one of the most memorable Criminal Investigation Command I ’ve ever receive . He ’s funny and smart , but more significantly , he is inherent to the plot — something that not a lot of Final Fantasy claim can gasconade . What ’s more , Final Fantasy XVI was able-bodied to tell such a rich story about him despite his absence seizure in most of the game . You see it in the way Clive get compare to him , in the way his friends reward his memories , and in the alliance you make because of the connexion he built .
If his name was n’t Cid , he might have been a protagonist , but I speculate being a bequest is an honor in itself .
1. Clive, Dominant of Ifrit
You knew this was coming . There is no other Dominant I want in my bit - one post except Clive . Clive is , in a signified , just like Joshua . He knows how to listen and gage off when he get laid he ca n’t do it alone . For that alone , he gets a ton of points from me . I detest it when protagonists think they ’re unbeatable .
I also sleep with how Clive appreciate his link . He care about sept and treat everyone like family . Despite all the hardships he endured in the Empire , he never lost that Rosfield brand of kindness . When he needs help , he does n’t press people away . This vulnerability made Clive such a respectable character , one who made sound decisions and sleep together the great unwashed every bit .
